Isn’t that a comforting thought?
I’ve considered this. A floating thought I saw somewhere.
I know -she- does not actually think I’m a bad person. If she did, she would not have done the things she did.
The assumption in the meme is that she does so not to cover up her guilt, but because she feels guilty for what she did to me.
Does she, I wonder? Does she acknowledge what she did to me so much?
It’s a nice thought.
I am not sure a person like this is capable of guilt. Guilt requires self awareness. Compassion. She lacked all of these qualities.
If you have such a person in your life, it may be comforting to entertain the thought that they treat you poorly, because they feel bad. The least they could do is feel bad. But they, in all likelihood, have no idea. They treat you that way, because they’re allowed. Or because that’s the only way they know how to treat someone. It almost certainly isn’t personal.
…but it’s probably not something they worry about, either.
