100th celebration post!!!!: “would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”

Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?
The Cheshire Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.
Alice: I don’t much care where.
The Cheshire Cat: Then it doesn’t much matter which way you go.
Alice: …So long as I get somewhere.
The Cheshire Cat: Oh, you’re sure to do that, if only you walk long enough.

I’ve always had a love affair with writing– but never done much about it. Oh, maybe a project here and there. But I’ve always been terrible at the follow thru.

Until now.

This is my 100th post!

I have no idea where I’ll end up; a fair idea of where I’m going; and damnit, if I’ll not allow myself a modicum of pride in getting this far down the road.

In celebration, I am announcing something new– a podcast! A sort of “polyside” chat about philosophical topics on life and love. Something, yes, involving advanced thoughts and knowledge of a subject (rather than purely theoretical ramblings). If you’re a long practicing masochist? I would love YOU to be the one to assist me in moderating a discussion on that topic.

It’s been a year, and I’m giddy at the chance to involve my close friends and perhaps make new ones! This was never supposed to be just about me– and I’m grateful to those who allowed me to share and quote their pieces, to support the ideas I want out there in the universe.

I would love the first podcast to be ready by my birthday, near Thanksgiving, but I don’t want to jump in until everything is solid. So this may wait until the new year. Still, I wanted to use these next two months to prepare, starting with the following:

Some questions to which I’d love feedback

  1. Would you like it to be more “polycentric,” specifically coming at it from the perspective of a practicing polyamorous person? Or more about relationships of all sorts? If I make it more general and exclude anything kink or related to my own polyamorous story, I could share it more widely as a Relationship Resource. On the other hand, if I keep it more personal, I’ll of course have a more authentic style. Unfortunately, I am not entirely open about my personal life. I can’t do both (and it’s difficult to share my poly story and avoid any kink stuff that would mean I can’t share it with groups with under 18 audiences, etc).
  2. Would you like it to be more in the style of my blog (curated, edited, capturing thoughts in a way that structures a complete story) or more towards a pure stream of consciousness and raw thought processes of poly, kinky folk?
  3. What existing blogs do you like? I often see podcasts responding to popular questions like, “My husband won’t meet my new partner, what should I do about this?” Educational poly support podcasts/forums are mostly all I know and see (the most popular, though of course not ALL that exists). But what about others? I don’t want to compete with someone smaller, trying to generate viewership, but rather create something different that fills in some necessary gap. I’m not seeking to EDUCATE, so much as INFORM about various ideas and concepts. Especially with the podcast I have no agenda. I just want to share stories.
  4. I am currently thinking of one that focuses on a theme/subject, like soulmates, ala Socrates’ Cafe where a question is posed, “What is a soulmate?” Then everyone contributes their story and works with each other to evolve and refine their own thoughts towards the matter, as others introduce them to something they might not have considered before– with maybe a dash of historical/philosophical perspective to further understand the topic. A lighter version of John Oliver’s in depth analysis of a subject, like Chickens or Voter Fraud.
  5. Yes, these chats would likely inspire stories for my blog, so any advice on the best way to manage that ethically would be helpful. Especially if I had a “celebrity” guest star.

…help a Kitty out? What are your thoughts?
