I choose kindness, compassion, and warmth.
Being the one to bring a smile to your lips- rather than tears to your eyes- makes me feel…full. Gentle. Soft. Welcoming. The one that attracts the pups and kittens and littles, who perhaps sense that I won’t hurt them.
The one that you know will hold you, sharing words or not, as you need them. Someone to make you feel a little better on a cold day.
I choose,
Pity
I believe we all have beautiful souls. We may get ours tarnished from exposure to the harsh elements, but a little scrubbing and they shine more brilliantly than ever. I am not angry, I am sad for your hurt.
Understanding
I don’t know your story, but I want to hear it. I want to know you, hear you, see me. Please help me to know more than I did the day before. Show me things I didn’t know existed.
Joy
I want to be the happiest kitten, unabashedly and unashamedly. This world is full of pain and…I don’t want to appear dismissive. But that only drives me to spread whatever cheer I can to those who may not have the same resources as myself.
Love
We all deserve love. Even if we don’t know how to give it, we should still receive it. It’s not hard to love, sorry, but it’s not. It’s much easier to hold on to hate, anger, and prejudice. Takes more energy, more time. Hurts more people. Why not spend that effort on love, instead?
